PLL Releases Schedule Destinations for 2020 Regular Season

The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) released the final five stops for the 2020 regular season campaign this morning.

Week 8 will be played at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon, on the weekend of August 1 and 2. This will be the league’s first trip to the Pacific Northwest, and the league hopes to draw fans from the Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver areas. Providence Park, which was recently renovated to include 4,000 new seats, is home to Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers and the National Women’s Soccer League’s Portland Thorns FC.

The league will also be making its first stop in the state of North Carolina. Week 9 will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina (approximately 20 minutes west of Raleigh, NC), on the weekend of August 8 and 9. On Friday night, August 14, and Saturday, August 15 (Week 10), the league will return to Tom and Mary Casey Stadium at the University of Albany in Albany, New York.

For Week 11, the PLL is going to Utah for three games at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah (about 20 minutes outside Salt Lake City). With lacrosse growing rapidly and gaining popularity in Utah, both the league and the venue believe that a PLL stop will be beneficial for both parties.

“When we first heard of the PLL launching in 2019, we knew it would be a perfect fit for Rio Tinto Stadium,” said GM and VP of Stadium Operations at Rio Tinto Stadium, Craig Martin. “Lacrosse is gaining a lot of popularity in Utah, and the PLL weekend will be another memorable moment in the history of lacrosse [and] in the ‘State of Sport’.”

For the final weekend of the PLL regular season, the league will return to the University of Denver for the weekend of August 28 and 29. Following a great 2019 campaign in Denver, PLL Co-Founder and CEO Mike Rabil “knew it was imperative” to return to the “Lacrosse Capital of the West” for 2020 and the foreseeable future.

The regular-season schedule locations are now set. The league will kick off at Gillette Stadium in Boston, MA, followed by Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Atlanta, GA, LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, NY (Long Island), Homewood Field in Baltimore, MD, the Ford Center at The Star in Dallas, TX, TCO Stadium in Minneapolis Minnesota, Providence Park in Portland, OR, WakeMed Soccer Park in Raleigh, NC, Tom and Mary Casey Stadium in Albany, NY, Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City, UT, and Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium in Denver, CO.

The league has not released the location for the All-Star Weekend, two playoff rounds, or for the championship and is yet to announce the matchups for each weekend.
